Parking Lot Striping

Striping is layout and paint. Premier Asphalt Repair measures the lot, marks out parking stalls at the width and length required by local code—typically 9 feet wide by 18 feet deep for standard spaces, wider for accessible spaces. Handicap stalls have to meet ADA dimensions and be located on accessible routes with compliant slopes.

We mark fire lanes, loading zones, directional arrows, stop bars at intersections, and crosswalks if the lot connects to pedestrian routes. Everything gets laid out with chalk or temporary paint first, then we apply the permanent markings.

Paint is the standard option—traffic-grade latex or alkyd paint applied with a striping machine. It lasts 12-18 months in high-traffic areas, longer in low-traffic sections. Thermoplastic is the upgrade—heat-applied plastic that bonds to the asphalt and lasts 3-5 years. Costs more up front but you're not re-striping every year.

We don't stripe fresh asphalt until it's cured—usually 5-7 days after paving. The oils in new asphalt will bleed through paint if you stripe too early. For re-striping over old asphalt, we can work as soon as the surface is clean and dry.

Striping work happens fast—most commercial lots take half a day to a day depending on size and complexity. We cone off sections as we work so the lot stays partially accessible. Paint is dry to touch in 30 minutes, ready for traffic in an hour or two depending on temperature and humidity.
